Gathering of historic cars for the centenary of the Great War in Montecatini
The day in honour of the fallen soldiers at the start of the terrible Great War of 15-18 was celebrated throughout Italy with events of all kinds.
Particularly in Montecatini, a charming town in the province of Pistoia in Tuscany, this event featured a historical parade of military cars, carabinieri, police, campagnole, fire brigade vehicles, motorbikes and vehicles of all kinds that were truly curious and unique because they were vintage to the Great War.
These curious historical vehicles, more than 200 in number, which are normally jealously guarded in many museums scattered all over Italy, gave life to a procession that crossed the entire town, ending up in the square in front of the Terme Tettuccio, with a concert by the Florence Carabinieri Fanfare.
The vehicles were also accompanied by drivers and mechanics dressed in period costumes. In addition to the military cars, there were also many vintage cars that attracted the curiosity of the public who gathered on this beautiful May day to admire them.
Although there were many cars, it was not easy to manage to photograph them due to the large number of enthusiasts present. It was a very important historical event and we are pleased to have had the opportunity and privilege to see it also because it was a centenary.
Of course we are for peace without ifs and buts. However, we cannot forget that the freedom we now take for granted is the result of the sacrifice of some heroes.
